Article Abstract:
School teacher and biologist Ernest Neil is most well known for his research into badgers. He undertook the first long-term scientific study of badgers and in 1956 was awarded the Stamford Raffles Award of the Zoological Society of London for his badger work. His first job was at Rendcomb College in Cirencester, England, in 1936. He moved to Taunton School in 1946, and retired in 1971. He served for more than 15 years on the Consultative Panel of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food on Badgers and Tuberculosis.

Professor Peter Jewell
Article Abstract:
Biologist Peter Jewell gained bachelor's degrees in Agriculture from Reading University, England, and in Physiology from Cambridge University, England. He subsequently obtained a PhD in Physiology, and between 1950 and 1960 was Lecturer in Pharmacology at the Royal Veterinary College. He also held academic positions in Nigeria, at University College, at Royal Holloway College and at Cambridge University. He served on many academic committees, and spent a great deal of time advising and helping others.

Ernest Bettenson
Article Abstract:
Ernest Bettenson began his career as a university administrator in 1947, when he became Assistant Registrar responsible for the Newcastle, England, office of the federal University of Durham. He became Registrar and Secretary of King's College, Durham, in 1961, and in 1963 moved on to be Registrar of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He gained great respect for his devotion to his work, and was regarded as accessible and impartial.
