Secret terror stifles wind of change
Article Abstract:
Opposition groups in Bahrain initially focused in demanding democracy, but are now beginning to address some of the other problems faced by the country, including a great gape between rich and poor, tension been Muslim Sunni and Shia and signs of Islamic revolution. The country appears relatively liberal to western visitors, but in fact Bahrainis are banned from entering the southern half of the island and up to 2,000 people are thought to be in custody.

Gulf maids in slavery to a reign of terror
Article Abstract:
There are many cases of foreign servants being very badly treated by Arab employers in the Middle East. Employers often claim that the maids treat children cruelly, steal or leave their jobs without prior agreement. It is thought that many servants are jailed for long periods if they attempt to run away or become pregnant, and these cases are now starting to be investigated by western human rights groups.
