Sir Dirk Bogarde
Article Abstract:
Actor and writer Dirk Bogarde began acting at an early age. He studied commercial art at Chelsea Polytechnic, but began to establish a career in acting after becoming an extra in the George Formby comedy 'Come On, George' in 1939. He became a major in Intelligence during the second world war, and subsequently gained a contract with J. Arthur Rank. By the second half of the 1950s, he was the UK's leading film star. He began to retreat from acting in the 1970s, focusing on his work as an autobiographer and novelist.

Is it the world? Or is it me?
Article Abstract:
Performance artist Franko B, who inflicts serious injuries on himself as part of his performance, does not wish people to feel sorry for him. He does not intend to cause people great distress, but merely wants to make the bearable unbearable. He uses bodily fluids as a metaphor, and does not feel that he should be ashamed of his body. Like other performance artists, he regards the body as a way of showing how vulnerable people have become.

End of the pierrot show
Article Abstract:
Latest clown acts are closer to performance art than to pure slapstick comedy. Clowns such as Leandre, who comes from Catalonia, have great physical ability, but can also enthrall audiences by their use of imagination. They respond directly to the audience, and this means that their shows are slightly different every time. There is considerable potential for clowning to become really popular again in the 21st century.
