The sharp end of the Violet Quill
Article Abstract:
Gay and lesbian authors are still regularly overlooked by organizations responsible for awarding literary prizes, according to gay author Felice Picano. However, he welcomes the fact that gay literature is now being openly studied and discussed. He feels that the Violet Quill group, which he formed with six other gay writers, has become very respectable. Indeed, most of the group's letters, manuscripts and journals have been collated at Yale University, which Picano finds amusing.

Revelations
Article Abstract:
Stopping being self-conscious can pave the way to many interesting experiences, according to novelist Maeve Binchy. She was very self-conscious as a teenager, but suddenly realized in 1957, during her first year at University College Dublin, Ireland, that personality is more important than appearance. She feels that realizing this encouraged her to be more outgoing, and also gave her the courage to write about what she knows, rather than feigning a literary style.
