Article Abstract:

The Rainbow Tribe is a group of 20 squatters in London, England. They establish creative community projects and plan a 'One World Rainbow Centre' to demonstrate self-sufficiency. When they squatted in the former Bank of Credit and Commerce International offices in Mayfair, they held meditation classes, had an information centre for environmental groups, an alternative market and a vegetarian cafe. The centre provided unemployed, skilled and creative people with hope. The tribe plans green campaign groups, community desktop publishing, a creche and more when they find a permanent site, but would not adopt a conventional approach to find premises.
