Superman's son asked for a miracle
Article Abstract:
Richard Li Tzarki, youngest son of Hong Kong tycoon Li Kashing, has been brought in by the Hong Kong government to develop a cyberport on a prime site covering 858,000 sq ft. It is hoped that this development will allow Hong Kong to compete with high technology centres such as Silicon Valley and Israel. The site will house 130 companies which will play a key role in taking Hong Kong into the information age. The Hong Kong government has granted control of the land to Li's Century Pacific Group, a decision which has attracted considerable controversy, especially as land is very scarce in Hong Kong.

US: BILL GATES GIVES US$ 26MN TO UNICEF
Article Abstract:
Founder of Microsoft and multi-billionaire Bill Gates has made another major donation to a children's charity. He will give US$ 26mn to Unicef, the United Nations Children's Fund, to combat maternal and neonatal tetanus, which killed 300,000 in 1998. Some cynics will say that the donation is timed to improve the public's perception of Mr Gates, bearing in mind the unfavourable ruling in the anti-trust case. However, the Unicef donation comes only weeks after similar gifts, including funding for immunisation programmes, and is very much in the tradition of US philanthropy.

This is the dawning of the age of informed bewilderment
Article Abstract:
The increasing trend towards connecting all parts of the world through information technology makes it more important than ever to identify the difference between data, information and knowledge. New technology has introduced mass production at the levels of data and information. This means that data and information have lost their value, while the source of unique advantage lies with human intelligence and creativity.
