What's new at the OU for '99
Article Abstract:
The Open University has introduced a number of new undergraduate level courses for 1999. These include 'En Rumbo,' a Spanish language course which it is planned will lead to a Diploma in Spanish, 'Art and its Histories,' a second-level introduction to art history, and 'Philosophy and the Human Situation,' the first Open University Philosophy course at Level 2. The Mathematics and Computing faculty is offering 'Mathematical Methods, Models and Modelling,' a second-level course, while 'English Language and Literacy' is a new third-level Education course.

The Open University's IT and Society course was developed to address the social and technological issues relating to information and communication technologies. It makes extensive use of new technologies, including CD-ROMs providing students with a wide range of printed and audio-visual material. Students gain experience of the Internet and the World Wide Web, and look at issues including the role of information and communication technologies in the workplace.
