Survivors of Serb massacre refuse to bury their dead
Article Abstract:
Relatives of the Albanians killed in a three-day attack by Serbian paramilitary police on the village of Prekaz, Kosovo, Serbia, are calling for international forensic experts to examine the bodies before they are buried. They feel that this must be done in order to obtain evidence for any future legal action against the Serbian authorities. More than 40 bodies have been returned to the combat zone for burial, but it is believed that the actual death toll could be more than 70. The six-nation Contact Group is now considering punitive measures against Serbia.

Revolution fails as Serbs' winter storm blows over
Article Abstract:
There was strong opposition to Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic in the period Nov 1996 to Feb 1997, and it seemed likely that he would be removed from power. However, the opposition movement has now almost completely disappeared, and he has been able to regain control. Indeed, he has even been able to have himself elected to the Yugoslav presidency. The opposition coalition Zajedno became divided, and was therefore unable to push ahead with demands for an all-party interim administration.
