Technicolor sale seals Carlton's reinvention

Carlton Communications has agreed to sell Technicolor to Thomson Multimedia of France for 1.43 billion pounds sterling in stock and cash. A year after the deal is completed, Carlton will hold a 5.5% stake in Thomson, along with a seat on its board. Carlton and Technicolor have also agreed a strategic alliance for interactive and digital television.

EMI 'only days away' from Bertelsmann decision
Article Abstract:
EMI is shortly to decide whether to seek a merger with the music activities of German media concern Bertelsmann. The main obstacle to a deal is that European competition authorities will only permit it if enough assets are shed to ensure the creation of a new competitive force.

Reed bucks the trend with 17 percent profits rise
