Article Abstract:
Many people have expressed surprise that Lord Southampton, who is 69, has married Alma Pasqual, a 36-year-old Filipina woman, following the death of his first wife in Feb 1997. The couple originally became acquainted when Pasqual was engaged as a cleaner by the first Lady Southampton. There are a number of reasons why their marriage should not be a surprise. Men are far more likely than women to remarry when they lose their spouse, and Filipina women are in great demand in Europe and North America.
