Goodbye, glorious Gloria
Article Abstract:
Theatre company Gloria, made up of director/choreographer Leah Hausman, producer Simon Mellor, composer Nicolas Bloomfield and writer/performer Neil Bartlett, was created in 1988 to produce shows its members were unable to do elsewhere. It is now to be dissolved, with its members pursuing individual projects but still working together in various combinations and other contexts. Gloria has been particularly characterized by its choice of venues, which have been theatres rather than arts centres.

Your career's on a razor's edge
Article Abstract:
Men with beards can often encounter difficulties with career progression in the UK. It is common for recruitment consultants to be asked to exclude men with beards from shortlists, and personnel departments are still strongly against bearded men. This seems to be because there is a widespread belief that bearded men have something to hide. Beards are also closely associated with a non-conformist nature, and to some people a beard is a symbol of social failure.
