The NHS's great kidney failure
Article Abstract:
The severe shortage of kidney dialysis facilities in the UK is currently causing many deaths which could have been avoided if the necessary facilities had been available. There are large regional variations in the standard of treatment of people with kidney failure, and huge investment is required to save the lives of people who are never even offered dialysis. The situation could be improved if the law is changed to allow dying patients to be put on to ventilators to keep their organs in a state which could allow them to be used by someone awaiting a kidney transplant.

Fast forward to the digital revolution
Article Abstract:
Television broadcasting in the UK currently seems to be dominated by sport in various forms, either coverage of live matches or programmes about sport. Programme controllers seem to assume that all viewers enjoy watching sport, but this is not the case, especially for women. Against this background, the move towards digital television can be viewed positively. In the digital television era, viewers will have many more programmes to choose from, and will be freed from the incorrect assumptions of programme controllers.

Judicial review is a mere Elastoplast
Article Abstract:
Judicial review is becoming an increasingly common feature of life in the UK. Judges are now frequently criticising and even reversing decisions made by ministers and Parliament, and some MPs see the judiciary as robbing them of power. It is now time to introduce a Bill of Rights which would lay down the essential principles to act as a basis for all future legislation.
