The baby came but the sex went
Article Abstract:
A London post-natal counsellor finds about 40% of first-time mothers do not have sex for up to two years after giving birth. More marriages fail during the 18 months after childbirth than at any other time. Fathers were usually nurtured by their mother so have no role model. Mothers lose interest in sexual relations through physical exhaustion, release of prolactin - which reduces libido - through breastfeeding, and pain.

First came penis envy ... now there's womb envy
Article Abstract:
There have always been men who long to have children, but in the 1990s this longing is taking on new dimensions. In the past, men saw children as a status symbol and proof of their potency, but now they long to experience intimate contact with their children. Single or gay men who long to have a child suffer particular problems, as they cannot choose to have a baby and raise it as a single parent, as a woman could.

Men who choose to get a life
Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly common for men to voluntarily take a demotion or to move to a less pressured job in order to be able to spend more time with their family. They have had to make sacrifices, particularly financial ones, but feel that this has been worthwhile as their quality of life has greatly improved. They are now able to devote more attention to their children, and regard this as a great privilege.
