The chattering class
Article Abstract:
It is important to be able to undertake many different jobs in television, according to talk show host Michael Parkinson. He was a producer at Granada before beginning the original run of 'Parkinson' in 1971. After this finished in 1982, he became involved in TV-am, and was then a jobbing presenter. He feels that it is becoming harder to find really interesting talk show guests, but there are still some people, including Harrison Ford, whom he would be very interested in interviewing.

My night in with the in-crowd
Article Abstract:
The new St Martins Lane hotel in London, England, designed by Philippe Starck, is already attracting many celebrities. The addition of 204 hotel rooms in London is to be welcomed, but it is possible to argue that this hotel places too much emphasis on style. It remains uncertain whether hotelier Ian Schrager will really be successful with this concept, as it will be necessary to attract businessmen, rather than celebrities, to really make the hotel profitable.
