The discreet mogul fashioning an empire
Article Abstract:
Amancio Ortega, head of Zara, one of Spain's leading fashion chains, has until recently been extremely reclusive. He refused to give interviews or to issue anything except the most basic personal information. However, he is now cautiously adopting a more public profile, and has issued the company's first annual report, which includes a photograph of him. This development forms the basis for the launching of Zara on the stock market in 2000, or possibly 2001.
