The friendliest brick box in Britain
Article Abstract:
The new Tate Gallery of Modern Art at the former Bankside power station would be successful even it were simply a shell containing modern art, as visiting art galleries has become a very popular leisure activity. However, it will be much more than this, as the development will include flats, houses, cafes and shops. Unlike a single-use building, it will be relevant to the needs of local residents, and will benefit from the proximity of the Globe Theatre and a new hostel for students from the London School of Economics.

Article Abstract:
There has been considerable controversy surrounding plans to construct a 1,265 ft Millennium Tower on the site of the former Baltic Exchange in London, England. Some observers have criticised the design, while others feel that a tower would spoil the appearance of this part of the city. Supporters of the scheme point out that the appearance of cities can never be unchanging. It is now time to begin looking more intelligently at the future of the centre of London and other large cities.
