The law on the street
Article Abstract:
Homeless people often fall victim to 'taxmen,' who demand money for using prime begging pitches, and they are also frequently assaulted. This has prompted the Charing Cross Homeless Unit to make great efforts to become familiar with life on the streets in order to offer greater protection to the homeless. Officers from the unit are gradually establishing relationships with homeless people in the centre of London, and the homeless are losing their unwillingness to talk to the police.

Under private investigation
Article Abstract:
A growing number of local authorities in the UK are now making use of the services of private detectives to gather information which will allow them to evict problem tenants from council estates. Agencies have become involved in investigating cases dealing with drugs, harassment, car crime and noise, and there have been a number of successful legal actions as a result.

'He's my son. I love him. But he beats me up.' (sons can learn violent behaviour from their fathers)
Article Abstract:
Women who endure a violent marriage sometimes find that the violence is perpetuated by their son after the marriage breaks up. Sons can learn violent behaviour from their fathers, and the mother remains in the same extremely difficult situation. In fact, it can be harder to seek help in this case, as mothers are very reluctant to admit to being abused by their son.
