The myths of Sarajevo
Article Abstract:
The independent Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina has six of its 22 ministers in Sarajevo. Only one of 55 nations which recognised the state have opened an embassy there. There are no air raids and the 25-a-day death rate is low compared to the 250-a-day in Beirut in 1982. The Muslim population, over half the city, is protected by militias and HOS gangs who expect to fight Serbs and Croats to prevent the division of Bosnia. This policy is supported by Belgrade and Zagreb.

Men of God receive their call-up papers
Article Abstract:
Priests in Serbia who have received their call-up papers to join the forces fighting in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, are seeking to explain to the authorities that their religious beliefs prevent them from fighting. They regard Kosovo as their holy ground, but do not feel that Serbia's claim to Kosovo should mean that they automatically support President Slobodan Milosevic. They seek to emphasize that all beliefs should be accommodated in Kosovo.
