The nation in a state
Article Abstract:
British people no longer have the confidence in their political leaders which they have traditionally had. They are seeking greater power over government policies, and are becoming increasingly frustrated at not being granted this power. The current Conservative government seems to believe that economic recovery will help to restore public confidence, while Labour party leader Tony Blair appears to believe that he can gain the faith of ordinary voters by presenting himself as trustworthy. However, neither party may be successful, given the extent of public mistrust of government.

So who's up, who's down, who's in, who's out. Who cares?
Article Abstract:
There has been a great deal of speculation surrounding the forthcoming reshuffle of the UK cabinet. Many ministerial changes have already been made since the Labour party came to power, and many observers feel that a further reshuffle will have a negative impact, creating further instability. Reshuffles tend to take ministers' attention away from their duties and can damage their authority if it is widely speculated that they are shortly to be moved elsewhere.
