The write stuff
Article Abstract:
There has been a great deal of exciting writing for the theatre by young people in the UK over recent years, according to playwright David Edgar. British drama seems to be undergoing a cultural renaissance, and young playwrights are keen to be involved. New work now accounts for around 20% of mainhouse repertory, and has a particularly strong presence in London, England. The serious and imaginative writing of US playwrights has been very influential.

Long live the drama of the margins
Article Abstract:
Writing political drama can bring difficulties in many areas, according to playwright Trevor Griffiths. He no longer has access to mainstream theatres, as his works are not regarded as commercial enough, and his most recent play, entitled 'Who Shall Be Happy ...,' is being put on at the Bush theatre. He is strongly aware of changes in theatre audiences, and is constantly looking for new forms and places.
