The only hope for Rwanda's refugees
Article Abstract:
Some observers feel that the situation in Africa, where chaos and civil war are now rife, has gone beyond any hope of a lasting solution. However, there is a strong moral argument for not simply leaving Africa to its fate. This is particularly the case with Rwanda and Burundi, where reports indicate that violence is set to break out once more. The best solution may be to place Zaire, Rwanda and Burundi under United Nations trusteeship for around 10 years. This would allow donor countries to have confidence that their contributions are having a positive impact.

James Earl Ray
Article Abstract:
Criminal James Earl Ray had a difficult childhood. He was the oldest of nine children, and was often in trouble at school. He was discharged from the army in 1948, and then turned to crime. He began a 20-year sentence in 1960 for armed robbery, but escaped in 1967 and was later convicted of the 1968 murder of Martin Luther King. He pleaded guilty in court, but this was the only time that he acknowledged his guilt. He was eventually to spend almost one-third of his adult life in prison.

Happy Birthday to them?
Article Abstract:
The generation of people born immediately after the second world war, who are now entering their 50s, tend to be resented both by people older than them and by people younger than them. They did not have to experience the difficult war years, but benefited from living through the positive developments of the 1950s and 1960s. They tend to be quite idealistic, even though those born after them are generally more cautious and less optimistic.
