The prosecution victory that became a victim's nightmare
Article Abstract:
Richard Adams has formulated a victims' charter following the murder of his son Roland in London in 1991. Roland and his brother Nathan were victims of a racist attack; Nathan survived. A white teenager Mark Thornburrow was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder. The rest of the 15-strong gang were not prosecuted. Adams accuses the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) for failing to treat the case seriously. The CPS maintains that it is independent from the police but it relies on police information. Adams states that it did not interview the family independently.
