Nato deal means Serbia is circled
Article Abstract:
It seems most likely that any Nato ground attack against Serb forces in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, would be launched from Albania. Nato has reached a transit agreement with Slovakia, and this would in theory make it possible to launch a ground attack directly against Belgrade, Yugoslavia. However, such an option would bring significant political difficulties. It is becoming clear that Nato cannot simply assume that Serb forces would back down in the face of a sustained ground attack.

Russia must learn that it is no longer a great power
Article Abstract:
The crisis in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, has demonstrated that Russia is not really in a position to assert itself against Nato. Russia has made many demands of Nato, but has not been able to back these up. Nato has merely patronized Russia, and it is clear that this conflict has been a disaster for Russian diplomacy. It would be advisable for Nato to stop patronizing Russia and to focus instead on assisting Russia in coming to terms with the reduced impact of its diplomacy.
