Country mania
Article Abstract:
It is sometimes very difficult for American country music singers to establish a presence in the UK, according to Kathy Mattea, who is very popular in the US but has yet to become well known in the UK. She took a considerable length of time to become established in the US, and still finds it difficult sometimes to deal with success. She has benefited from occasional collaboration with Scottish musician Dougie MacLean, and he is one of the influences reflected in her latest album, 'Love Travels.'

Turing women into swine
Article Abstract:
It is true that writers need to be cold-hearted, according to novelist Marie Darrieussecq. She attracted considerable controversy with her first novel, 'Pig Tales,' in which racism and sexism at work are frankly portrayed. This novel also turned her into a celebrity, and this put great strain on her marriage. This is in turn reflected in her second novel, 'Naissance des Fantomes,' which has a strong autobiographical element.
