'The problem of the hereditary system is obvious.' (United Kingdom should consider shifting to elected monarch)
Article Abstract:
Many changes are taking place in the UK which make it appropriate to consider the future of the hereditary system of monarchy. Any discussion about the future of the monarchy must involve the Church of England, and it would therefore be advisable for the archbishops to set up a Commission on Church and Nation, with particular reference to the future of the monarchy. Consideration should be given to whether it is now appropriate for the UK to have an elected monarch, rather than a monarch who has obtained the position simply by accident of birth.

Article Abstract:
The likelihood that television programmes will be awarded ratings is another indication that the UK government is seeking to restrict personal freedom, according to libertarians. The Libertarian Alliance believes that the government interferes far too much in the lives of ordinary people, as reflected in the banning of beef on the bone and in efforts to stop people smoking by imposing heavy taxes on tobacco. Libertarianism has gone to extremes in the US, where fervent libertarians can justify almost any type of behaviour.
