The trouble with the Victoria and Albert
Article Abstract:
The concept of 'access' has become the dominant feature in the management of London's Victoria and Albert Museum. This has prompted the museum to seek more sponsorship, which in turn has led to the opening of galleries which do not really fufil the museum's purpose. They are not large enough to be authoritative, and do not fit in well with the resources already held by the museum. The museum is performing well financially, but recent innovations have not helped to prepare it for the challenges of the 21st century.

Euro dream of an island race
Article Abstract:
The Isle of Wight has many features which make it look typically British. However, it has shown strong determination to be linked with continental Europe, and has now declared itself 'a region of Europe.' It has even gone as far as to issue its own ecu 'tokens,' which have attracted considerable interest. This reflects the fact that there are parts of the UK where residents do not share the strongly anti-European views currently being expressed by the central government.
