One day, son, all this could be yours: why America expects to see another George Bush in the White House
Article Abstract:
Governor of Texas George W. Bush, son of the former President, is the most likely Republican candidate for the White House in 2000, and could become the next US President. He has focused on his work in Texas, rather than campaigning nationally, and this has proved beneficial, allowing him to remain in control of the process. The Bush 2000 campaign is extremely well organized, and his promoters have drawn on the fact that, although not very charismatic, he is truly inclusive and appeals to ordinary people.

Bush brothers steal the show
Article Abstract:
Brothers George W. Bush and Jeb Bush, both sons of former President George Bush, performed well in the Nov 1998 mid-term elections. The former retained the governorship of Texas, while the latter won the governorship in Florida from the Democrats. It is now possible that George W. Bush will stand for the Republican nomination for President in 2000. Both brothers are on the moderate side of the Republican party, and both gained support from a wide political and ethnic background.

A kinder, gentler George Bush is the Republicans' lone star
Article Abstract:
It is certain that George W. Bush, son of the former President, will be re-elected Governor of Texas in Nov 1998. However, it is less certain whether he will take the Republican nomination for the presidency. He will not make a firm decision on whether to seek the nomination until after he has launched his programme for 1999. If he does decide to go ahead, he will be able to call on substantial financial support, as he has many friends and many contacts made through his father.
