The university life: home or away?
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom tradition is for students to leave home to study, unlike other European countries, but the grant freeze encourages students to stay at home. In Scotland 34% live at home because there is a tradition of strong links between community and university, but in the UK generally 13% of students live at home. A MORI poll in January 1992 found that nearly half those interviewed felt students should choose their local university to save taxpayers' money. Working at home can create better academic results eliminating the stress of learning to live independently, however, it may be less beneficial due to the lack of social contact or travelling time. The current system offers freedom of choice which in turn increases consumer demand.

How to vanish into thin air
Article Abstract:
The Jomsom Trek in the Nepalese Himalayas is located in the Annapurna range to the west of Kathmandu. It takes between five and eight days in each direction, but it is possible to do the trek in only one direction and return via aircraft. The trek does not go higher than 2,800 mt, unless visitors wish to take a day's walk further north to the pilgrimage centre of Muktinath. Some parts of the trek are very challenging, but the journey is not unrealistic for those who are reasonably fit.
