Time we all learnt to grow up
Article Abstract:
Young people have always clashed with adults to a certain extent, but the wide divisions which now exist are a product of the modern world, having become deeper engrained by cultural and economic forces. There is now great bitterness and hatred between the generations, and this trend has been the subject of extensive research. Youth has become the subject of fantasy, and this will not change until adults stop yearning for their lost youth.

If there's too much soap, it won't wash
Article Abstract:
Soap operas now dominate television programme schedules in the UK, with broadcasters competing fiercely to boost audience levels. There is particular concern at ITV, where ratings have fallen and the more commercial approach of the BBC is having a negative impact. Soap operas can certainly make effective television, but there is a trend at present for them to have increasingly extreme story lines, which could in fact deter viewers.
