This ritual cooking and eating of Dallaglio will only astonish the young
Article Abstract:
It seems extremely unfair that the media has treated England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio so harshly for having allegedly taken drugs. Very little comment is made about athletes who drink heavily or act violently, but any indication of having taken drugs, even if they are not performance-enhancing drugs, is extensively criticized. Attention should focus on ensuring that young people are aware of all issues relating to the use and abuse of all narcotics and stimulants, rather than singling out Dallaglio for apparently presenting a negative role model.

TV is being aimed at morons - I know from my own experience
Article Abstract:
Melvyn BVragg and Polly Toynbee have both attacked a decline in quality of British TV. Bragg argues that British TV lacks intellectual ambition, and serious discussion is reserved for unpopular times, while shows geared to immature men are increasingly shown late at night. Cooking and gardening are extensively covered on TV, but there is little coverage of books. Channel 4 performs well for a channel funded by advertising. The BBC has a new head, and there is hope that it will improve its program quality.
