This war may have been wrong, but we must win it
Article Abstract:
It is possible that UK Prime Minister Tony Blair will turn to European countries as he seeks to resolve the conflict in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. If the US remains unwilling to risk using ground troops in the Balkans, then Blair could seek to persuade France to create a combined force. The UK and France would then try to persuade Germany and Italy to join them in the leading group, although it is unlikely that either of these countries would do so. Kosovo is a European problem, and Europe must therefore take the lead in resolving it.

We have proof: this is the land of the free
Article Abstract:
The UK is one of only eight countries in the world which meets the criteria for economic freedom set down by the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing US think-tank. Those who subscribe to this approach believe that economic freedom is a key way of explaining why some countries are more prosperous than others, and feel that there are strong connections between economic freedom and the rate of economic development. If this view is to be taken to its limits, then any country in the world could become rich if it wished to.

Pakistan must learn the value of a free press
Article Abstract:
The Pakistani government is taking very harsh action against what remains of the free press. Most recently, it ordered the arrest of The Friday Times editor Najam Sethi, who is accused of anti-Pakistan conduct, including conspiring with the BBC to destabilize the government. It is clear that the future of the free press in Pakistan is now in serious danger. The UK government should take up this issue and make a protest to the Pakistani government.
