Why can't Labour's left relax and learn to love the Lib Dems?
Article Abstract:
The traditional left wing of the UK Labour party seems to feel that cooperation with the Liberal Democrats amounts to a betrayal. In fact, it is also possible to argue in favour of the Labour party cooperating with the Liberal Democrats. One of the main arguments in favour of such cooperation is that the Liberal Democrats almost definitely have more supporters in favour of high levels of government spending and taxation than New Labour does. However, the Labour left wing should remember that tax and spend will only be attractive to voters if they feel that they are receiving value for their money.

Tony Blair has done more in this reshuffle than he's given credit for
Article Abstract:
The Cabinet reshuffle undertaken by UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is much more far-reaching than many observers have indicated. He will not fight the next election with this Cabinet, but this Cabinet will form the basis for the Cabinet with which he will fight the next election. His changes to the lower ranks of government have begun to create a cadre of influential Ministers of State who will be eligible for Cabinet positions in the future.
