Twenty years of falling prices
Article Abstract:
Houses have traditionally been seen as a sound investment in the UK, giving security against inflation and a useful source of income. However, this situation may now be changing, with analysts predicting that house prices will fall in real terms for the next 20 years. House price deflation may in fact bring some benefits, especially if it helps to stabilise wages and improve international competitiveness.

Seven and a half months
Article Abstract:
People seeking to sell their house should be aware that the price is one of the main influencing factors on the potential buyer's decision. They should be very realistic about the price, as an overvalued house can take a very long time to sell. It is important to ask an estate agent exactly how a particular valuation has been made, and to compare the valuation with prices of similar properties nearby.

It's tough at the top, too
Article Abstract:
The top of the property market, which has generally remained strong throughout the general slump in property prices, is now starting to experience problems too. Prices rose by 10% in the first six months of 1994, but have not risen since, and there are now reports that business is down by as much as 20% compared with spring 1994. Fewer buyers are now prepared to pay a premium for a special house.
