Look back to the future of healthcare in 2048
Article Abstract:
Developments in medical technology will mean that health care in the UK in 2048 will be very different from health care in 1998. It may be possible for babies to grow in an artificial womb, for example, and technology will be available to delay the onset of aging. By 2048, the whole of the human genome will have been mapped, and this will mean that it will be possible to predict who will be vulnerable to which diseases. Medicines will be tailored specifically to the individual patient's genetic make-up.
