UK: BT SEEKS MEDIA COMPANIES FOR OPENWORLD
Article Abstract:
It is believed that British Telecom (BT) is planning the acquisition of media companies that will be able to provide content for its broadband Internet service, Openworld. The company's chief operating officer, Mr Marc Deschamps, has also revealed that BT is likely to float Openworld, although would not confirm when this is likely to take place.

US internet advocate Nicholas Negroponte has taken a 5% stake in UK website Webswappers.com for a sum in excess of GB[pound] 100,000. The site, started in Janury 2000, allows surfers to swap products and to date around 20,000 have been exchanged. Mr Negroponte feels there is considerable scope in the consumer-to-consumer marketplace.
