US: BOYCOTT THREATENED AT BURGER KING
Article Abstract:
Burger King fast-food chain is being threatened by a boycott from black rights campaigner, the Rev Al Sharpton. He is intervening on behalf of La-Van Hawkins, who claims that Burger King wanted him as a franchisee for a deprived inner city only to go back on its word three-years later. Burger King is counter suing claiming that Mr Hawkins owes it more than US$ 6.5mn from a 1998 loan. Sharpton accused Burger King of racism by not allowing minority companies a portion of the business.
