US: SURVEY INTO HOUSEHOLD CHORES
Article Abstract:
A survey of 400 people between the ages of 20 and 70 by Cornell University in the US has revealed that household chores are just as tiring in the 21st century as they were over 60 years ago. The study has revealed that the domestic workload has not reduced much over the last 60 years and that many labour or time saving devices do not actually help. Scrubbing and mopping floors are said to be the most exhausting household chores followed by tidying, vacuuming and doing the laundry. This compares to general cleaning, mopping floors, laundry, ironing and carrying water in a similar survey conducted in 1937.

Canned: the soup tin label that became the ultimate icon of pop art
Article Abstract:
The Campbell Soup Company is changing the design of its labels for the company's canned soup. The label is seen as a classic design, and has also become part of art history through the work of Andy Warhol. The company is responding to a drop in demand for its soup, and a drop in its stock price. A smaller proportion of women cook during the week, and a limited amount of cooking is needed for condensed soup. The company has not made major changes to the label due to fears that consumers could reject the new version.

Welcome to our brand new world
Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly common for companies to focus on global branding. It appears that the global brands of the future will almost all be American, partly reflecting the size and the influence of the US economy and partly the fact that US marketers have been aware of the potential of global brands for some time. Managing a global brand presents significant challenges, and some companies are now realizing that this process is too important to be left to marketing departments.
