Wanted: any old irony
Article Abstract:
Roger Powell, who until mid-1995 was living rough on the streets of London, England, has more recently been employed by television commercials director Tony Kaye as a living work of art. He first appeared at the Saatchi Gallery, and has also appeared at the Tate Gallery, the National Gallery and the British Museum. At first, he was overlooked by visitors to these galleries, but he is now beginning to attract considerable attention. By making a man into a work of art, Kaye addresses people's fear that they are no more than commodities too.

Zen and the elite art of rowing
Article Abstract:
Rowing can come to dominate the lives of people who take it very seriously. They are prepared to invest a great deal of time in training, and make great demands of their bodies. There is undoubtedly great satisfaction in being part of a team of highly skilled rowers who are working in perfect harmony, and even relatively unskilled rowers can gain a similar sensation. In the UK, rowing attracts considerable attention from the general public, especially the annual boat race between Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Flutter that has lost its kick
Article Abstract:
The great popularity of the National Lottery has had a severe impact on the football pools companies. The National Lottery is now the third-largest betting earner in the UK, and has encouraged many regular gamblers to switch from the pools. Market leader Littlewoods has seen a 20% fall in revenue, while Vernons has seen a 24% drop. Pools companies are now introducing new games in an effort to regain public interest.
