We built the wrong Europe
Article Abstract:
The leaders of Western Europe failed to establish the correct priorities at the end of the 1980s following the collapse of the Berlin Wall. They focused on improving the situation in Western Europe, where people already enjoyed peace and prosperity, rather than on dealing with serious problems in Eastern Europe. The situation in Eastern Europe today would be much more stable if Western European leaders had devoted to the region even a proportion of the time and energy they devoted to Maastricht and monetary union.

An appeal to Europe: now is the moment to make the leap
Article Abstract:
The conflict in the Balkans has overtaken the European Union's enlargement policy. It is clear that the European Union has a leading role to play in guaranteeing peace and security in the Balkans, and the Balkans must now be closely linked with the developed Europe. The European Union must now focus on political and security integration of Central European countries, while at the same time avoiding slowing down their economic integration.
