Strange tale of the author, a jeweller and some novel product placement
Article Abstract:
It is not possible for writers to be totally pure, according to novelist Fay Weldon, whose book 'The Bulgari Connection' features many obvious references to luxury goods firm Bulgari. This book was originally intended to be only given away free by Bulgari, but Weldon indicates that it was sold to publishers because it is a good novel.

'We were sisters. We didn't wonder who was right and who was wrong.' (novelist Fay Weldon considers first contacts with feminism)(Revelations)
Article Abstract:
There was very strong opposition to feminists when they first came to public attention in the late 1960s, according to novelist Fay Weldon. At that time, she was working in advertising and frequently encountered situations in which she was degraded because she was a woman. It was not until she became properly aware of feminism that she realized how badly she had been treated. She was able to make a connection between the personal condition of women and the political, but this left her open to considerable criticism.
