What Hillary saw in Harlem, before going on breakfast TV
Article Abstract:
Part of the reason why Hillary Clinton has seen a sharp rise in her popularity among ordinary Americans is her strong support for special programmes for the poor. Her influence has been particularly noticeable in Harlem, New York, NY, one of six major urban areas to be identified as an 'improvement zone.' She is especially keen to improve the literacy of Harlem's children, recognizing that children need sound basic skills if they are to play a role in improving the area in the future.

A puzzling letter from a smart policeman
Article Abstract:
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Condon has gained a reputation for being extremely cool and calculating. He handles himself better in public than most politicians, and is very careful about his image. This makes his recent statement containing a controversial generalisation about the role of young black men in muggings in London even more surprising. This statement is bound to inflame an already very tense situation.

History need not be bunk - in fact, it can be put to positive use
Article Abstract:
It is important for the future to be informed by history, but not imprisoned by it. Care must be taken not to focus on settling old scores at the expense of benefiting from new possibilities. A knowledge of past events can play a very valuable role in releasing the modern age from the constraints of the past. History is very important, but the past must be seen for what it was, rather than for what people today want it to be.
