Lose your twin, live half a life
Article Abstract:
The recent case of a young mother who chose to abort a healthy twin because she felt she would not be able to cope with two babies has drawn attention to the emotional problems which can be experienced by twins who are separated. Even people who lose their twin almost immediately after birth can go on to develop separation trauma. Memory occurs in the foetus at around six months, so twins develop an awareness of each other's existence.
