What's the point in serving up this rather tasteless Cook book?
Article Abstract:
The book written by Margaret Cook, former wife of UK Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, about her ex-husband does not seem to have been very well researched. It is possible to argue that she did not really have the right to make revelations about her former husband's private life. There are ways in which making revelations about private matters can serve a useful wider social purpose, but this is not the case with this book. It contains nothing that universalizes the author's experience, and its effect is merely therapeutic.

We are cursed by the cult of miserablism
Article Abstract:
There seem to be many people in the UK who are very quick to complain. The targets of their complaints include the Millennium Dome, those who take cocaine, the literacy hour in schools and those who mourned the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. These new miserablists seem to imply that any age would be better than the current one and that any rulers would be better than those who currently run the country.
