Where are Britain's big hitters?
Article Abstract:
There has been extensive publicity in the UK over recent years about the apparent flourishing of the enterprise culture. However, research indicates that entrepreneurship has in fact made very few Britons really wealthy. There are still negative feelings in the UK about wealth created through trade, and government attempts to improve the climate for entrepreneurs have generally been dismissed. It is still almost impossible for a small, new high-technology business to raise finance, and UK financiers continue to favour safe investments.

Overworked women: do they quit - or just quit moaning?
Article Abstract:
Former publishing executive Elizabeth Perle McKenna argues in her book 'When Work Doesn't Work Anymore' that women are imprisoned by work, despite believing that work will set them free. She feels that women should fight for a feminized workplace, and that there should be wider recognition of the fact that even women with an apparently successful career are not really fulfilled. Some women do not share her view, feeling that it is possible to establish a compromise between work and family life.
