Who will speak up for the children lost for words?
Article Abstract:
The Nuffield Speech and Language Unit, Ealing, west London, England, a residential speech therapy centre, may be forced to close through lack of funds after NHS reforms. The centre, part of the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, has 12 children with dyspraxia in residence. They receive normal education and two or three speech therapy sessions a day. Elsewhere they would get only one a week. They stay at the centre for two years at a cost of 34,000 pounds sterling a year. The Department of Health suggests that local authority education deparments should contribute financially.

A lifetime of fibre may not be necessary
Article Abstract:
Cancer of the colon is studied at St Mark's Hospital, London, England, where consultant surgeon Mr Robin Phillips found that those at risk have a malfunctioning liver. Their metabolism prevents their livers from detoxifying carcinogens. These pass into the bile, causing tumours. He suggests that those who are at risk of cancer of the colon and born with this error should eat a diet low in meat and high in fibre. Those without this error can eat anything.

I've lost my keys ... I'm going mad
Article Abstract:
Memory loss is a very common condition, and in most cases is not a cause for concern. It is most frequently caused by the normal process of ageing, but can also be associated with certain medical conditions or with depression or anxiety. Memory loss associated with ageing cannot be totally overcome, but a number of strategies can be adopted to ease its impact. These include keeping a diary and labelling cupboards and drawers.
