Why I'm battling against the euro, by Lord Owen
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair is performing very well, according to former Labour Foreign Minister and Social Democratic Party leader David Owen. He welcomes the Labour party's constitutional reforms, but warns that it is important to proceed with caution. He believes that the most urgent matters are education and improving the UK's competitiveness. He now wishes to distance himself from party politics, and sits as an Independent Social Democrat in the House of Lords. He believes that the UK can continue to play a significant role in the European Union while remaining outside the single European currency.
