Why can't builders be more like dentists?
Article Abstract:
It is common in the UK for people to experience difficulties when employing a builder to undertake work in their home. Even a builder who initially appears very understanding and reliable can become difficult to communicate with, and work is frequently completed behind schedule and to a poor standard. There can even be problems with builders who belong to a trade association, as these associations cannot guarantee the standards of their members or offer protection if difficulties arise. The Office of Fair Trading is now calling for a register of approved builders.

Building up the infrastructure
Article Abstract:
Significant changes have taken place in the Ethiopian construction industry since 1993 as the government has attempted to boost the private building sector. Road schemes have been allocated, and parts of government holdings have been sold to private contractors. Large schemes must still be funded by international aid. There is still a shortage of skilled labour for the construction industry, and the government is trying to overcome this problem through training schemes.
