Why did Brixton burn again?
Article Abstract:
It has traditionally been assumed that rioting in urban areas can be prevented if investment is made in large-scale regeneration schemes. However, this has proved not to be the case in the London borough of Brixton, which has received grants of 100 million pounds sterling since unrest in the 1980s but was still the scene of further rioting recently. This indicates that costly capital programmes in inner city areas are of little use, and can even feed the frustration of young people. It is much better to consider smaller scale solutions.

The fleet car market sales again
Article Abstract:
The UK business car market rose by 7.3% in 1995 from 1994 to 1,032,106 units, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Some observers have claimed that the company car is falling from favour, but statistics do not bear this out. Demand for highly qualified and experienced staff is boosting the need for new executive cars, as is the need to make replacement purchases which many companies have put off for some time.

Mum won't let me see you again, Dad
Article Abstract:
Unmarried fathers who fail to secure a Parental Rights and Responsibility (PRR) order can find themselves completely cut out of the lives of their children. With a PRR, the unmarried father is placed in the same legal position as a divorced father, but so far less than 2% of unmarried fathers have actually obtained a PRR. For those who have not done so, the legal position is very uncertain.
