Defeated in war, victorious in therapy
Article Abstract:
Americans generally see the Vietnam war as a positive experience for their society, even though they were defeated. They believe that it helped the country to find a new strength, and claim that the later collapse of Communism indicates that they won a moral victory, if not a physical one. These delusions may now be challenged with the admission by Robert McNamara, who provided the theory for the Vietnam war, that the US was wrong to become involved.

Abused by tinkering fools
Article Abstract:
Public art has become a severe embarrassment in the UK, with much of it being distasteful and unattractive. It has no coherent audience, and lacks a commmunicable language. It becomes merely self-examination, and this is not the right basis for public art. Those who commission pieces of public art always seem to place a literal interpretation on it, failing to realise that public art has to be symbolic.
