Why shouldn't I be a mummy-granny?
Article Abstract:
It is very hard for older couples to receive fertility treatment, according to Alison Cobb, who is now 61 and until recently was secretly being treated at the Nurture Clinic at Nottingham University. The treatment came to an end following the scandal over the case of a 59-year-old British women who gave birth to twins following treatment at a controversial clinic in Rome, Italy. She feels that her case was not fairly judged, as no account was taken of the fact that her husband is 14 years younger than her.

To love, honour ... and to pay
Article Abstract:
Many women find themselves in very difficult financial circumstances after their divorce, according to Sallie Quin, who now represents Fair Shares, an organisation which she helped to set up in 1993. This now has 2,000 members, and was partly instrumental in forcing the government to change its policy on the dividing up of pensions after a divorce. The government has now promised to change the law to ensure that a divorced wife obtains a share of her husband's pension.

War-ravaged land haunted by spectre of Aids
Article Abstract:
A very serious problem with Aids infection has emerged in the Zambezia region of central Mozambique. The infection was mainly brought to the area by refugees from the civil war in Mozambique returning to the country from Malawi, which has one of the worst rates of HIV infection in sub-Sahara Africa. There are a number of factors boosting the advance of Aids in Mozambique, including poverty and the low social status of women and children.
